Since I have not written on my blog for a while, I would like to resume by sharing a great experience with you: my first public talk.
A few months ago, I had the opportunity to deliver my first public presentation. It took place at the Chamber of Commerce of Palma de Mallorca during the Digital Content Industry Innovation Conference. The topic was “The Minics Experience.”
The Minics Presentation
During the talk, I had to explain what Minics was and share my experience from the perspective of digital content innovation. At first, I felt quite nervous due to the large audience and because I did not know how to frame Minics, a game for children, within the context of digital content innovation. After a while, I calmed down by reminding myself that nothing bad could happen since I knew Minics perfectly well. My father once told me that if you know your material well enough for a perfect score, there is no reason to be nervous. And that is exactly what happened.
I started my talk by discussing how Minics was born, from the original idea to its execution. I briefly highlighted the difficulties we encountered throughout the entire project development, and of course, all those that emerged afterward. These are the challenges nobody sees and that often go unrecognized. Despite the initial nerves, the audience responded warmly and asked many insightful questions about the development process.
Lessons from the Experience
This first speaking experience taught me several valuable lessons. The most important one is that passion for what you do translates directly to your audience. When you truly believe in your project and know it inside out, that enthusiasm becomes contagious. People connect not just with the product but with the story and the person behind it.
Another key takeaway was the importance of networking at these events. After the talk, I had the chance to meet other professionals in the digital content industry. These connections opened doors to collaborations and opportunities that I never would have found otherwise. For anyone hesitating about giving their first public presentation, my advice is simple: just do it. The experience is incredibly rewarding, and each talk makes the next one easier. In fact, public speaking has since become one of my most valuable professional skills, helping me communicate ideas and inspire others in ways that written content alone cannot achieve.
